Loki Teased In Marvel’s Avengers

Loki's arrival on Disney Plus appears to have reminded Marvel's Avengers players that the game teased the demigod's arrival on day one.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics continue to plug away as both try to salvage Marvel's Avengers. What should have been the biggest and most successful superhero game of all time if its movie counterparts are anything to go by, the live service-focused triple-A title has fallen flat and is in dire need of rescuing.

As for who is capable of rescuing Avengers at this point, that remains to be seen. Square will be hoping Black Panther is the man for the job. The War For Wakanda expansion will be here this summer and could bring back many of those who have left Avengers behind. It certainly needs it as the game's active player count has hit zero on Steam multiple times, something no one would have expected from its first year.

Those still playing have also been reminded of the Loki tease included in the base game. Loki's Disney Plus series appears to have jogged the memories of those who have found it, with some taking to Reddit to question whether the tease has been forgotten by the game's creators. If you're unfamiliar with the tease, it takes place in one of Thor's Heroic Missions which you can check out below.

Thor and his team are tasked with closing an unsanctioned Bifrost. After the enemies have been cleared and the Bifrost is closed, Thor demands the imposter show themselves. They do not, but the God of Thunder happens upon some green footprints leaving the scene. “Oh, brother,” Thor utters. That's either a reference to Loki or a very niche hat tip to Chris Hemsworth's role as Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.

Avengers' poor launch has been followed up with a slower than expected rollout of new content and characters. That has arguably hurt it more than anything but has been unavoidable as Square has been busy plugging holes resulting in DLC being pushed back. Big additions like Loki and Black Panther may be the only thing that can save the game now, but even those big names might not be enough to pull the nose up.
