Morgana Rolls Into Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania As Paid DLC

As part of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021, Sega has announced that Morgana from Persona 5 will be a playable character in the upcoming Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. An HD remaster of the first three Monkey Ball titles, Morgana is planned as a post-launch DLC character that will be available for $4.99 on all platforms starting November 2, 2021. The game, itself, is heading to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch on October 5, 2021.

Along with the reveal of the fur-midable member of the Phantom Thieves, Sega showcased a second trailer detailing the 12 party games that will be playable in Banana Mania. As revealed before, these include such mini-games as Monkey Racing, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Bowling, and Monkey Baseball. There's no monkeying around with these… I'll see myself out.

While Morgana will be a paid guest character, the previously announced Sonic, Tails, Beat, and Kiryu Kazuma will be available as unlockable characters through in-game challenges. Considering the budget pricing on this remaster ($29.99 on PC and $39.99 on consoles), an extra $5 isn't so bad for a character that has quickly shot up the ranks in popularity. Thankfully, Morgana will not be the final guest character as Sega is teasing more to be revealed before launch.

It appears as though Super Monkey Ball is becoming the Sega crossover event we didn't know we wanted. It's wonderful to have the original trilogy on modern platforms, but hopefully, this remaster leads to a brand new installment in the series for the future.
