Mortal Kombat 11 players are getting a lot of new content to play with, including leaked DLC characters and a new skin pack for female fighters. The most recent patch notes make some character-specific adjustments that players should make a note of if they plan to play as these characters in-game after this MK11 update.
Any Mortal Kombat 11 player knows that what seem like minute character adjustments can have a huge impact on how they play the game. Any change could completely break a character or make it way overpowered. Still, most Mortal Kombat character updates are visual, like the new Klassic Femme Fatale Skin Pack, or are just minor move tweaks. Either way, players should know what to expect when they open their updated game files. Here are the changes fans should know about in the 8/25/20 patch notes.

This list was so short that it only had one update: “move list corrections,” with no examples given or elaborations. This could mean the devs fixed awkward in-game typos, reordered the lists, or adjusted button combinations. Whatever it is, it’s likely very minor and minimal since the patch notes didn’t say what exactly the devs changed.
- Deadly Winds’ first hit was previously unable to trade when certain circumstances were met, this issue was uncommon but is now resolved.
- Bouncing Boulder’s hit regions won’t be removed when the move is reflected.
- When Jacqui is airborne with Bionic Bounce, (Air) Shrapnel Blast, (Air) Prototype Rocket, and (Air) Grenade Launcher, D’Vorah’s Infested Krushing Blow will trigger when she gets a hit on Jacqui.
- Square Wave and (Air) Square Wave’s hit and repel regions adjusted.
- When Jacqui is airborne with Bionic Bounce, (Air) Shrapnel Blast, (Air) Prototype Rocket, and (Air) Grenade Launcher, Kotal Kahn’s Mehtizquia Cut Amplify Krushing Blow will trigger when he gets a hit on Jacqui.
- Fixed issue where Mortal Strike (K.A.T. Turret) would sometimes fire in the wrong direction.
- Fixed visual issue where K.A.T. Tantrum damage effects looked incorrect on certain characters.
- The Essence Thief Brutality will now trigger correctly.
Players can hope that these MK11 character changes won’t shake up the metagame rankings too much, but Jacqui fans should look out when fighting against D’Vorah and Kotal Kahn while Jacqui is airborne, since those two other fighters now have another weapon in their arsenals against her. Cetrion, Shang Tsung, and Sonya players who faced the issues devs just fixed should be excited to see their moves acting like they should. However, opponents who took advantage of these glitches should watch out.
As always, balancing the metagame is a tricky task, and it’ll take a little while for the new changes to play out and for MK11 players to see what the true extent of the changes is. Add a recent leak revealing that a ton of Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters may be coming to the game, and the balancing act just got a lot more complicated.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
