Annapurna Interactive revealed new gameplay for speedrunning card-based platformer FPS game, Neon White.
As previously reported, players control the assassin White, taken from Hell to fight demons in Heaven. All to earn a chance to be redeemed, and live life in paradise. However, the other demon assassins seem familiar.
Players collect Soul Cards to attack foes, or can discard them to use their unique movement abilities. Players can compete for the best times by using the right combination of cards for the quickest clear times and finding short-cuts.
The new developer walkthrough, it is explained how White and the other Neons only have 10 days to purge heaven. Since cards can’t be taken between levels, players should be open to discarding them to move quickly.
As players gain EXP (or Insight), then can gain new ways to play old levels; such as shortcut hints and hidden collectibles that will require clever play to obtain. This will help players climb the rankings on global leaderboards, or among their friends.
The aforementioned collectibles can be gifted to other Neons in the city hub. Along with gaining new missions and events, players can give these gifts to forge friendships with the Neons, gain Insight, sidequests in the underworld, memories from your past life that could change the game’s ending, and “certain encounters.”
