Players will always be guaranteed some Fish Filets when salvaging a fish, though, Fish Oil is an uncommon by-product of the process. This is the only manner of harvest Fish Oil, so be sure to get one's angling skills up to par to get lots of this material.
According to its item information, Fish Oil can be derived from Common and Uncommon fish as well as Sturgeon and Swordfish. When seeking out this material, be sure to aim for these kinds of underwater creatures by selecting the best bait for the species.
For the most part, Fish Oil isn't a widely used component, though it is crucial in making Cooking Oil. The latter kind of oil is needed for various kinds of recipes and foods, so those intending to become a gourmet chef in New World will likely need lots of the stuff.
