Nintendo has long been inundated with fan requests for new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters. However, it appears that the most passionate fans have instead flocked to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl – an upcoming fighting game where childhood icons duke it out
Ever since the official reveal of the game earlier this week, the fighting game community hasn't been able to talk about anything else. Fans immediately took to Twitter to lock in who they're gaining, but also to make fighter requests. Better yet, it looks like those behind the game don't mind one bit.

By far the most popular request is Squidward, who many can't believe wasn't announced as part of the initial lineup. Fans wanting to play as Squidward is hardly surprising, given how Spongebob has been part of childhoods for years now.

However, his hype train is almost matched by one ambitious request: Hugh Neutron. No, not Jimmy Neutron himself, but his dad – a side character from a show that ended in 2006. Nickelodeon fans are a dedicated bunch.

On top of these two titans, fans have also had plenty of fun going through Nickelodeon's vast library, picking out the most bizarre characters that technically qualify for All-Star Brawl. The cast of Barnyard are brought up a lot – especially Biggie Cheese, of course, alongside his rendition of "Mr. Boombastic".

Publisher GameMill Entertainment certainly hasn't been put off by the hype. Speaking on Twitter after the launch, the company said, "Please keep sending us all your roster hopes, gifs, pictures, and predictions for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl! We love reading them." Adding fuel to the fire, when the official Twitter account revealed the artwork for all the confirmed characters, the announcement added that these were all the characters "…for now".
Jokes aside, some in the fighting game community are actually considering that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be better than Smash Bros. in one key area: online multiplayer. A Discord message from a developer claims that the game will have rollback netcode on "supported platforms". If this comes to fruition, that would mean that if the connection slips online, the game "guesses" what the player would have done next. If it guesses correctly, the poor connection will go unnoticed. This currently isn't implemented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, to much fan annoyance.
