The Nintendo Eshop has recently been updated, with one big and important feature added: the ability to cancel digital game pre-orders.
Players have had the ability to cancel pre-orders both physically and digitally on many other stores for quite some time now, so it’s nice to see that Nintendo has finally made this feature possible on the hybrid console. Players who wish to cancel their pre-orders may do so by simply entering the Switch’s Eshop, selecting “Account Information” and look for “Your Pre-Orders.” Once here, select the option “Cancel Pre-Order” for the game. And that’s it, very simple and straight-forward.

Refunds have always been a bit less straight-forward on Nintendo consoles, with the Switch still yet to have a simple solution for those who wish to receive a refund for a digital purchase. Unlike other online marketplaces like Steam and Epic Games, which have perhaps the easiest and simplest ways for offering refunds, Nintendo does not offer a way for Switch users to request game refunds within the console itself. Instead, players must call Nintendo customer service and request a refund over the phone. Refund requests are reportedly approved in most instances, especially for those requesting refunds for the very first time, but it still is a bit of a shame that this feature is not accessible directly through the Switch console itself.
Regardless, it is nice that Nintendo has included this new Eshop feature, and feels very consumer-friendly. At the very least, players can now pre-order games without fear of not getting their money back if they decide to change their mind later down the road. With so many games releasing for the hybrid console every year, there are plenty of stinkers out there so it’s comforting to know that players are now safe to cancel orders.
The Switch has gone on to regularly receive many new updates over the past three years, getting tons of new features that have slowly helped improve the already great hybrid console since its release in 2017. As of a recent sales report, the console already currently sits at the second best-selling Nintendo console of all time, recently surpassing the original NES and slowly gaining on the Wii.
Speaking of Switch updates, Animal Crossing: New Horizons just got a large update for the month of September which adds in seasonal acorns along with some brand-new DIY recipes, new bugs, fish, sea creatures, and more into the game.
