Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition New Content Depends on Platform

Oddworld: Souldstorm Enhanced Edition Will Have Platform-Specific Differences

Oddworld: Souldstorm fans are already well aware that their favorite game is getting an Enhanced Edition. Although such editions are common in the gaming industry, what makes it most interesting is its platform-specific differences.

The Enhanced Edition’s new content is a challenge mode that players can access via the game’s main menu once the game has been completed. PC and PlayStation players will get a new set of levels called Toby’s Escape, which are puzzle-centric challenges that provide further backstory for the character Toby.

Xbox players, on the other hand, will also be getting their own set of levels that will be taking place in Vykkers Labs—which, in turn, seems to be a throwback to Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee. For Xbox users, these puzzle-centric levels will allow them to compete in leaderboards, depending on the time it took for them to complete the game, or if they finished the game with no deaths.

Apart from these new Oddworld: Soulstorm content, the Enhanced Edition will also be bringing improvements to audio balancing for all consoles. The seven extra months that the devs had to polish the game gave them ample time to improve “gameplay mechanics and motion code.” Unfortunately, not enough information has been revealed about these enhancements. As of the moment, Oddworld: Soulstorm cannot tell exactly what type of impact the new features will have on the players’ gaming experience.

The Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition, which is a reimagining of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus from 1998, will be launching on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles on November 30th, along with the already existing PC and PlayStation versions.

The retail versions for the Collector and Day One Editions of Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition can already be pre-ordered. Those who pre-order them at participating retailers will also be given access to the game’s original soundtrack, as well as a digital artbook.
