Oddworld: Soulstorm Will Clamber Over To Xbox One And Series X|S Later This Year

After being rated for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S a few months back, developer Oddworld Inhabitants has confirmed that Oddworld: Soulstorm will be releasing on Microsoft's consoles sometime later this year. No firm date has been confirmed, but it seems Sony had a short bit of exclusivity on Abe's latest adventure that is likely to be nearing the finish line.

Without explaining how these versions will be different, we'll have to infer some ideas from the specifications of Microsoft's consoles. With the Xbox One being slightly less powerful than the PS4, it stands to reason that version of the game will have lower resolution visuals. The Series X, on the other hand, is slightly more powerful than the PS5, so it may be able to run Soulstorm at a native 4K resolution. Series S falls somewhere in the middle of last-gen and next-gen, so it should deliver an all around good experience.

At launch, Oddworld: Soulstorm had a ton of technical issues that kept it from achieving greatness. Many were mixed on the direction the gameplay took, but no one could deny that the game needed more work. After many months, Oddworld Inhabitants released enough patches to get the game in a state it was comfortable with.

Having not currently played Soulstorm, I can't say if the game is worth booting up. I wasn't a fan of the Oddworld remake, New N Tasty, and Soulstorm seems to continue on from there. If you like your games less overbearingly dark and atmospheric and more action based, Oddworld: Soulstorm might be for you.
