Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl New Gameplay Trailer

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl

The Pokemon Company have revealed a new gameplay trailer for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.

The new gameplay trailer shows the addition of your Pokemon following you; a feature from Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Let’s Go Pikachu, and Let’s Go Eevee. We also see the return of ball seals (stickers that produce special effects when a Pokemon is released from it’s Pokeball), the Union Room, player clothes customization from more recent titles, Super Contests, and the Underground.

This new Grand Underground not only sees the return of the secret basses, but adds Pokemon Hideaways. The Pokemon that appear change depending on the statues in your secret base. Some of these Pokemon appear to be those not originally found in the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and some from Pokemon Platinum.

UPDATE: Based on the map of Veilstone City in the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, it appears the Game Corner has been cut. Recent games and remakes had cut the Game Corner, likely due to avoid higher age ratings due to featuring “gambling” style content with slot machines.

At 12:47 in the Pokemon Presents livesteam, we see what appears to be Veilstone City. Based on the location, this is where the Game Corner should be. Instead, the Boutique for buying new clothes is there.

In the Pokemon Presents livesteam itself, it was stated that while the game would support Pokemon Home in 2022, the games would not have Ranked Battles. This suggests there will not be world championships or other official tournaments. A special Nintendo Switch Lite Dialga & Palkia Edition was also announced, and will be released November 5th.

You can find the new gameplay trailer below.

As previously reported, the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games are remakes of the 2008 mainline Nintendo DS Pokemon games. Players will head to the Sinnoh region; based on the Japanese island of Hokkaido, and part of the Russian island of Sakhalin. Its most prominent feature is Mt. Coronet, a mountain range that divides the land in two.

The region is also steeped in mythology; especially around a trio of Pokemon living in lakes across the land, and legendary Pokemon said to command time and space. However, Team Galactic seeks to abuse this power for their own gains.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl launches November 19th on Nintendo Switch.
