Pokemon's upcoming Switch games have pretty big file sizes when compared to other recent games from the series on the console.
Every time The Pokemon Company has had news this year, it has been a pretty big deal. Things have really been scaled up to celebrate Pokemon turning 25. We've already had New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Unite this year, and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are still to come. Not to mention Legends: Arceus in January 2022.
Speaking of Arceus and the Diamond and Pearl remakes, those three games were at the center of last week's Pokemon Presents. More of what to expect from Diamond and Pearl was shown off, as well as a special edition Switch Lite that will be released alongside the games. The highlight was the information on Arceus, giving us the first real feel of what Pokemon's first RPG is going to feel like.

You can now preorder all three Pokemon games through the official Nintendo site, and all of the listings include file sizes. All three are actually pretty hefty for Pokemon games. Arceus will occupy 13GB of your Switch's internal storage, only 0.4GB less than Breath of the Wild. That's more than Pokemon Sword & Shield, but it does make sense that it compares to Breath of the Wild since it's an RPG.
Diamond and Pearl being 10GB each is the more surprising file size revelation. The last Pokemon remakes on Switch, Let's Go Eevee and Let's Go Pikachu, were only 4.2GB each. It's unclear why Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are more than double that. Plus, if you opt for the double pack, which a lot of Pokemon fans are probably planning on doing, that's 20GB. Not to mention an additional 13GB once Arceus arrives.
Add all three together and that's actually more than a regular Switch can handle. You'll need to pick up a microSD card before all three games arrive if you plan on downloading them all digitally and you don't own one already. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch on November 19, 2021. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is slated to be here on January 28, 2022.
