Pokemon Go Art Gen 7 Starters Mega Mewtwo

Pokémon Go is celebrating its fifth birthday this week, and in honor of that Niantic shared a brand-new illustration celebrating all things Pokémon Go. Within that illustration, it seems that the mobile game is hinting at some upcoming additions including the appearance of Mega Mewtwo and new Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon.

The new anniversary-inspired artwork shows off Professor Willow and team leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark in the middle of a giant group of Pokémon. Summer blossoms fill the air as the game’s iconic PokeStops and gym stand against a beautiful blue sky. In the forefront of the art is a pair of trainer’s legs as they walk towards the Pokémon, representing the player. It is a great piece of work that really captures the excitement and fun of the mobile game.

Within the artwork, most of the included Pokémon are new additions to the game. In the very front of the pack is a running Sylveon and just behind them is the recently added Sawsbuck in its Summer Form. While those are recent additions to the game, there are plenty of Pokémon in the illustration that have yet to make their debut. For example, the Mythical Meleotta, which is set to appear in this Summer’s Pokémon Go Fest, can be seen floating above the crowd.

However, what is sure to get fans excited is the addition of the Alolan Starter Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon and Mega Mewtwo X, which is prominently focused on the center of the illustration. The Mega Mewtwo is the result of mega evolving a Mewtwo using Mewtwonite X or Mewtwonite Y, which hints that the Mega Evolution will be making its way into the game as well. Along with this new evolution form for Mewtwo, the illustration shows new Pokémon Sun and Moon Pokémon, specifically the starter trio of Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio. While the game has introduced several Alolan variants into the game, the addition of these fan-favorite from the game will surely have fans eager to get back out there and catch them.

Pokémon Go is currently celebrating their fifth Anniversary with a special balloon-wearing Pikachu, a new shiny Daramaku, and increased amounts of the original Starter Pokémon in the game. This is all leading up to the annual Pokémon Go Fest on July 17 and 18 that will introduce Meleotta to the mobile game.
