Today, the hashtag #PokemonMastersEx has began trending via Twitter, but for all of the wrong reasons. Twitter users started catching on to the funny sounding hashtag, and have since began tweeting hilarious jokes involving it.

Originally intended to promote Pokemon Masters EX, the hashtag clearly resembles the words “Master sex,” to which many fans have noticed and began retweeting and making memes out of via Twitter.  The tweets are predictably silly, poking fun at the sexual sounding nature of the official hashtag.

The hashtag was made by the Pokemon company itself, and is being used to promote Pokemon Masters EX, a popular Pokemon mobile game. The official tweets have used the hashtag like #PokemonMastersEx but other Twitter users have done away with the capitalization all together. The Pokemon Masters Ex mobile game allows for players to battle one another using their Pokemon in single, double, or even triple battles. The aforementioned hashtag is cleverly being used by the official Twitter account to allow for players to cast votes for gaming-related content within the game, although most tweets are not being used for such thing.

Whether Nintendo will make any sort of response to these tweets or change the hashtag is unknown, however it seems unlikely. Despite it sounding funny in a hashtag form, it seems to work well to bring the core Pokemon Masters EX community together by uniting over a single hashtag. The mobile game recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, with the title receiving a large new update and plenty of additional content as well as adding the “EX” to its name, thus resulting in the hilarious tweets.

Pokemon continues to dominate the industry and sell incredibly well, with Pokemon Sword and Shield for the Nintendo Switch surpassing 18 million units recently. Since its release, the game continues to bring in more revenue for Nintendo, with the recently released downloadable content Isle of Armor selling comparatively great. And there’s still more additional content still yet to come, with The Crown Tundra coming sometime this Fall.

Pokemon‘s other mobile games have also been performing very well, with Pokemon GO being among one of the highest grossing mobile games for quite some time and continues to have a high user base despite its age on the market. The Pokemon brand has always performed great since its inception over 20 years ago, so it’s really no surprise that Pokemon Masters Ex is no different.
