Pokemon Unite players are calling for a bug to be fixed that stops potentially game-changing points from being scored in the dying seconds of a game.
Pokemon will gas up the respective hype trains for Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends Arceus via an all-new Pokemon Presents later this week. Those three games will arguably be the crown jewels of Pokemon's 25th-anniversary celebrations. However, New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Unite, the aperitifs to those main events if you will, have perhaps been more popular than Pokemon bargained for.
Pokemon Snap has already sold more than two million copies since it launched, and that's not even including sales in Japan. As for Unite, Pokemon's first foray into the MOBA world is also proving to be a hit. It does have some teething problems, of course, the latest of which is a pretty major issue.

In some matches, goals scored in the final few seconds of a match aren't being counted. Pokemon Unite player ncjsh took to Reddit with evidence proving as much. Their Alolan Ninetales arrives at one of the opposing team's goals with 48 points worth of Aeos energy in hand (or maybe that should be paw). Ninetales successfully deposits those points with two seconds on the clock. However, the game doesn't count them.
What makes this example particularly heartbreaking is what that does for the final score. Shortly after the match ends, ncjsh is informed that their team lost despite their last-minute efforts. By a 42 point margin, which means those 48 points would have won their team the match. Replies to the clip have revealed that this appears to be a fairly common bug, with others claiming they have also suffered the same fate.
It's unclear what exactly is causing this bug if it is even a bug at all. Some think it might simply be lag or a bad internet connection. Others claim it's a known bug that is already being addressed. Whatever it is, an inability to score points before a match has actually come to an end is a pretty major problem. Hopefully, it's a bug that is addressed sooner rather than later. Perhaps in tandem with the patch bringing Blissey to Unite's playable roster later this week.
