Venusaur is tied with Pikachu as the heaviest-hitter in Pokemon Unite. Thanks to its long-range and potent CC ability, Venusaur can be an absolute terror on the battlefield in the right hands.
As a ranger attacker, Venusaur's job is ramp up quickly help your team win team fights by dishing out major damage from a distance. You'll need to focus on farming wild Pokemon and getting last hits in so that you can level up quickly and maximize your damage potential. If you're quick, you can take the fight to the enemy team before they're ready to react.
If you're wondering how to play Venusaur in Pokemon Unite, we've got you covered. Here's our guide on the best Venusaur build for Pokemon Unite, including the bests moves, items, and strategies for Venusaur.
Pokemon Unite Venusaur Build Guide: Best Moves
Your sole focus for the first 90 seconds of the match should be to farming wild Pokemon. Start with Razor Leaf as it can do heavy, sustained damage to Pokemon. Ignore the first Aipom near spawn and rush ahead to the pair right before the forward most goal. If you can line them up, Razor Leaf will hit both Pokemon and allow you to quickly secure both kills. From there, head towards the center and farm whatever you can until the Combee and Vespiquen spawn at 8:30. Use your Razor Leaf and Seed Bomb/Sludge Bomb to quickly clear them.
While there are those who will defend the damage-dealing potential and sustainability of Giga Drain + Petal Dance, this is a high-risk combo considering Venusaur's limited mobility. Instead, we recommend specializing into Sludge Bomb and Solar Beam. Sludge Bomb will allow you to clear the Combee/Vespiquen mobs with ease and slow down opponents during a team fight, while Hyper Beam is a long-range, high-powered snipe that will help you secure more kills than any other ability.
Pokemon Unite Venusaur Build Guide: Best Items
Venusaur is a damage dealer, so we recommend focusing on items that will build its damage. All of Venusaur's abilities, except its auto-attack, deal special damage, so the best items to use are the Wise Glasses and Exp. Share. You can also use the Sp. Atk Specs, but since Venusaur isn't great at scoring, you might get more utility out of the movement speed and health provided by Exp. Share. Remember to upgrade your items to level 20 as soon as you can.
The battle item you use comes down to preference generally, but since Venusaur's greatest weakness is its slow speed, we recommend using either X Speed or Eject Button to help get yourself out of trouble. Full Heal is also a decent choice if you find yourself getting slow, stunned, or bound too often. This choice will shift somewhat as the meta evolves, so just pick whatever makes the most sense for you.
Pokemon Unite Venusaur Build Guide: Best Playstyle
If you've played other MOBAs before, then you can think of Venusaur as your ADC. Venusuar will not be very useful in fights at the start, so it's important to focus on farming wild Pokemon so you can level up quickly. The Combees that spawn in the center of each lane at 8:30 are very important for Venusaur because it can clear them quickly with well-placed Sludge Bombs and Hyper Beams. Once you have a level advantage over the opponents in your lane, you can start being more agressive.
During team fights, Venusaur should always hold the back line and be prepared to escape if it gets jumped by a Gengar, Zeraora, or Lucario. Venusaur is not meant to dual in 1v1 scenarios with melee fighters, but rather to stay in the back and pick up week targets with Hyper Beam. Use Sludge Bomb strategically to slow down opponents and deal damage to groups during team fights, and wait for opportunities to Hyper Beam weak, flying opponents. Remember that Sludge Bomb lowers Sp. Def, as does Wigglytuff's Sing and Gengar's Shadow Ball, so try to save your Hyper Beam and use it when the enemy is debuffed so they take the most damage possible.
