It has been a trying few months for the new studio Blue Box and its upcoming survival game Abandoned. With rumors flying around that its game is actually a new Silent Hill title, the developer's founder, Hasan Karhaman, has had to do some backpedaling to reassure the community that this game is in no way associated with either Konami or Hideo Kojima. Having said that, it has been revealed that Karhaman appeared on a podcast recently, which was being sponsored by the Japanese company.
In a recent post on a subreddit dedicated to games and game leaks, user u/DeadlyOneX linked to several sources which refers to the Abandoned developer appearing in an interview, and that it was sponsored by Konami. This has, understandably, reignited discussions that the game could actually be Silent Hill, given that the company owns the rights to it. While some are fairly confident that the rumors aren't true, there are others who still feel that it's something of a coincidence that Konami was sponsoring a podcast which featured Karhaman. Others think it may have just been Konami "trolling."

However, this is all perhaps a mere coincidence, especially given that the show was also sponsored by Ubisoft, which does not have any ties to Blue Box's game at all. Such are the rumors about the links between Abandoned and Konami that the developer released a video last month to squash the Silent Hill rumors, with the game's director insisting that he is not a hired actor or Hideo Kojima in disguise.
What's also quite interesting is the Konami logo was removed and replaced with the logo for Bloober Team. Bloober itself was also recently involved in rumors about an upcoming Silent Hill game, but were denied. It seems as though Blue Box is having some difficulty getting away from the fan theories, and incidents like this are arguably not helping.
Although initially a PS5 exclusive title, it was announced recently that Abandoned would also be coming to the PC. The game is described as a "cinematic survival sim" which is set in an open world where players will be challenged with realistic survival methods. Currently, there is no release date for the game. But whatever it turns out to be, it's probably not likely to live up to the hype, not just because of the Silent Hill rumors, but also because of a new theory which posits that Blue Box's game will actually be Metal Gear Solid.
Abandoned is currently in development for PS5 and PC.
