For months, rumors have persisted that a Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy was in the works, bringing the PS2-era GTA games to modern platforms. Now those rumors have been backed up by a report that claims that not only does the collection exist, but that the Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy release date is merely a matter of months. That same report touches on possible remasters for Rockstar's other games, and there's some good news for Red Dead Redemption fans.
According to Kotaku's report, Rockstar Games has plans to remaster some of its other classic titles. There are a variety of older Rockstar Games titles that would be strong candidates for remasters, though it seems safe to say that one game fans would like to see in particular is the original Red Dead Redemption, especially in light of Red Dead Redemption 2's incredible sales success. As it turns out, Kotaku has heard that Red Dead Redemption is indeed one of the potential remasters that is being discussed.

However, there is a catch. Whether or not any other older Rockstar Games titles get the remaster treatment will depend on the sales of the Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy. The collection will be releasing during the fall gaming rush and will have some seriously stiff competition, including from the Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5/Xbox Series X port, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
The reaction to the Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy news has been widely positive so far, as it seems many fans are excited about the idea of returning to classic Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. This excitement and the collection including three games in total could be enough to drive sales and fuel remasters of future Rockstar Games titles like the original Red Dead Redemption, but fans will just have to wait and see on that front.
Something else that could potentially drive sales for the Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy is Grand Theft Auto 6. According to reports, the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date is believed to be years away, so it stands to reason that GTA fans may want to pass the time by revisiting the classics.
There are many who have only played Red Dead Redemption 2 and have never tried the original game, which is a shame as it shows what happens next in the story. A Red Dead Redemption remaster could help all of the new Red Dead fans see how the full story plays out, so hopefully the Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy sells well.
Red Dead Redemption is out now for PS3 and Xbox 360.
