Resident Evil Movie Detail Will Ensure It’s Faithful to the Games

The Resident Evil movie reboot, titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, will hit theaters in a few months. The film is looking to be much more faithful to the Resident Evil source material than the previous, more action-focused movies were, which is an approach that has been well-received by franchise fans. A newly confirmed detail about the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City movie should ensure that the film remains as faithful to the games as possible.

Resident Evil movie reboot director Johannes Roberts recently spoke to IGN in an interview where he revealed an interesting detail about how the movie will remain faithful to the original games. Roberts explained that the filmmakers "always returned to the game" when it came to characters, creatures, and locations, opting to avoid creating original characters or monsters. "Every character and creature is from the game," Roberts explained in the IGN interview.

Roberts confirmed that there will be multiple Resident Evil creatures in the movie, with two of the monsters confirmed so far being zombies and the tragic Lisa Trevor. Roberts explained that the Resident Evil movie monsters have been made using a mix of prosthetics, CGI, and creature performers and that they look "f***ing incredible." Roberts believes that fans will have no problem recognizing the creatures from the games, but there have been some tweaks to ensure that it seems like these things could exist in real life.

This interview with Roberts came alongside a set of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City movie photos that prove that the film is truly trying to be a faithful recreation of the video game series. The images show various characters from the Resident Evil movie in action, including the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team exploring the Spencer Estate mansion and Claire and Leon making their way through an underground area in Raccoon City.

One of the more disturbing images of the bunch shows the aforementioned Lisa Trevor, who is a tragic product of Umbrella's experiments. Lisa Trevor is widely considered to be one of the scariest Resident Evil creatures, so it's great to see that she made the cut for the movie, and it makes one wonder what other monsters will be appearing in the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City film when it hits theaters in November.

Marketing for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City should start ramping up now that we're closer to its premiere date, so hopefully a trailer will drop soon that gives fans some answers.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City premiers in theaters on November 24.
