You Certainly Are Persistent…
There’s plenty to be said about Resident Evil Village – there’s plenty of tension and terror, along with some interesting plot twists along the way. However, one thing that can’t be denied is that it’s been a roaring success ever since it launched all the way back in May. Now, Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil Village has passed 4.5 million sales in total between digital sales and physical shipments.
Resident Evil Village is the eighth main-series title in the iconic Resident Evil series (or the Biohazard series if you’re playing in the original Japanese). It follows on from the similarly successful Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. As of March 2021, Biohazard had passed nine million total sales, and it’s looking like Village won’t be long catching up – it only took four days for Village to hit three million sales.
Developers Capcom have given an overview of not only Village itself, but also the critical acclaim that the game has received: “Resident Evil Village is the sequel to Resident Evil 7 biohazard (which has gone on to ship a cumulative nine million units as of March 31, 2021) and features a higher degree of action and even more expansive, highly engaging gameplay. In the game, players take on the role of protagonist Ethan Winters as they delve into a new kind of survival horror set in a mysterious, snowy village. Lauded for its technical merits, including its stunning, photorealistic visuals and cutting-edge 3D audio, the game also won support from fans for featuring appealing characters grounded in traditional horror and gameplay that expertly balanced elements of action and horror. This resulted in worldwide shipments of the title surpassing four million units.”
Resident Evil Village is available right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia – it’s well worth checking out for any horror fan!
