Rocket League Goes Free-To-Play Next Week

Rocket League, Psyonix Studios’ massively popular mix of soccer and rocket-powered race cars, is taking the plunge into the waters of a free-to-play transaction model. Meaning that it will no longer cost players anything to engage in a match of Rocket League on Nintendo Switch (or any other platform). The change becomes official on September 23.

Of particular note is that players will not be required to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to partake in the action. Existing Rocket League players who purchased the game prior to this free-to-play transition will be able to receive special Legacy Status Items for use in-game. The return of Rocket League’s Season 1 Rocket Pass is also coming, and look forward to the Endo Starter Pack and Jager Pack, as well as a new in-game event called Llama-Rama (a crossover for Fortnite that will unlock items for players in both of these games).

Whew! Quite a lot to process there, but is it enough to get you playing or returning to Rocket League? Tell us in the comments and on social media!
