GSC Game World unveiled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 last year, much to the elation of fans of its cult classic predecessor last year, and have since shared bits and pieces of new details. Now, in a development update posted on Xbox Wire, the developer has provided some more new details.
The update focuses on talking about a short in-engine gameplay teaser (which we actually saw not that long ago), while focusing on detailing the game’s new protagonist, a stalker codenamed Skif. The developer mentions that the game puts an emphasis on atmosphere, appropriately enough, while describing the short scene shown in the aforementioned teaser, which takes place in an abandoned and foreboding school.
The developer also says that development is “progressing smoothly”, and reiterates 4K support for the game on Xbox Series X. The shooter will also feature ray-tracing support on both Xbox Series X and Series S, in addition to leveraging the consoles’ SSDs. “The aim is to deliver the product of the highest quality possible on every platform it’s announced for,” the developer writes.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and is due out some time this year, though GSC Game World have yet to announce an exact release date.
