Samurai Warriors 5, the latest in Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors spinoff series, is coming out on July 27 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. And to get ready for that momentous day, you’ll be able to download the demo a week early.
Yes, Samurai Warriors 5 is getting a demo next Tuesday, July 20. The demo will be available for digital download on each platform and offer the first two stages of the main campaign. That’s not likely to last you very long, but there are at least four characters to familiarize yourself with during the week-long demo.
Those characters include Hideyoshi Hashiba, Toshiie Made, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and No. There are 33 more characters to unlock in the actual game, which is actually a lot fewer than most previous iterations of Musou games.
Whatever progress you make in the demo will carry over to the main game, so if you like the demo and buy the game there’s no need to worry about having to play those first two stages over again.

Our recent interview with Koei Tecmo games president Hisashi Koinuma revealed that you'll see around 150-200 enemies on screen at once, depending on your platform, and there are no plans for a next-gen version of the game. A shame–just imagine how many thousands of soldiers you could mow down with one sword swipe on something like the Xbox Series X.
