Skyblivion Devs Show Off The Remade City Of Leyawiin

The team behind Skyblivion – that is, an ambitious project that's modding Oblivion into the world of Skyrim – today gave us an in-depth look at the swampy city of Leyawiin. Leyawiin recently received a makeover for the release of The Elder Scrolls Online's Blackwood Chapter – but this Skyblivion reimagining might be more impressive.

Before taking a look at Leyawiin, the new trailer discusses other landscapes that are getting an update, including the Fall Forest and the entire Blackwood region in which Leyawiin resides. Blackwood in particular looks much better than you'll remember, with towering trees, crumbling ruins, and an oppressive fog that lingers on the horizon. Move towards the coast of Blackwood, however, and things brighten up – and that's especially true for Leyawiin.

Rebuilt from the ground up using original Oblivion concept art, you'll now find canals that let ships pass through the entire city unimpeded, rearranged districts, and a sprawling new Leyawiin Castle. You can check out all these changes in the official trailer below:

Leyawiin might be the main attraction of the latest update, but there's plenty of other content on display. This includes:

  • New fort designs
  • Interior and dungeon reworks
  • A look at Navmeshing and 3D assets
  • An announcement that the team is looking for additional help and support

Skyblivion has been making steady progress over the years, with recent updates showing off new gameplay and sneak peeks at various locations throughout the mod. The undertaking is daunting and – for a team of volunteers – everything we've seen so far looks surprisingly impressive. Fans of both Skyrim and Oblivion have a lot to look forward to when Skyblivion eventually releases.

No release date has been set for the ambitious rework, although it appears as if the light at the end of the tunnel is finally in sight. You can learn more about Skyblivion by heading over to its official website.
