Sniper Elite 4 has received a free next-gen upgrade for both PS5 and Xbox Series X, available to download right now.
Sniper Elite 4 is probably one of the last games you'd expect to see get a fancy upgrade for next-gen systems, but developer Rebellion has done just that. In an announcement on the game's official Twitter account earlier today, Rebellion uploaded a short trailer detailing some of the features you'll be able to experience in the next-gen version.
Boasting smooth 60 frames per second gameplay, vastly improved loading times, and impressive visuals in up to 4K, Sniper Elite 4 has truly made the jump to next-gen. If you already own the game, you should be able to download the update the next time you boot up the game on either PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the game has been updated to take into account the PS5's Dualsense controller. The game will run smoother and look better, but won't take advantage of the Dualsense's haptic feedback or adaptive triggers. This is likely due to the extra effort that would be required to implement these features.
For those who've never heard of the Sniper Elite series, the games have you play as a sniper on a series of stealth-based missions across a number of different countries during World War 2. The series is infamous for its gruesome, slow-motion kill cams that occasionally track the player's bullet to show you what organs or bones you shattered with your shot.
Sniper Elite 4 specifically was released in 2017 and is the latest game in the series. Players are tasked with completing several missions throughout Italy in an attempt to discover and destroy a new Nazi weapon. Sniper Elite 4 boasts the biggest maps in the series, giving players the best chance to pull off extreme long shots, letting you live out the true sniper fantasy.
The game is currently available for most systems, including PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
