Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will include a feature allowing you to slow down the gameplay during trickier courses.
The Super Monkey Ball series will be revived later this year via Banana Mania. Banana Mania will include more than 300 remastered stages from the first three Super Monkey Ball games. However, it will also bring elements from other games in the series, as well as some brand new features too. One of those features was shown off on Twitter by Super Monkey Ball producer Masao Shirosaki.
Shirosaki has been showing off Banana Mania gameplay ever since the game was first announced. However, this latest clip seems to have generated the most interest. Shirosaki is shown slowing down time in-game, allowing him to navigate a particularly tricky part of a course. The game is returned to normal speed once the hard part of the course has been completed.

“When you press the button, it will be in slow motion, making it easier to play scenes that require delicate operations such as narrow roads,” Shirosaki tweeted. Some Super Monkey Ball fans have highlighted that this will come as very good news to Super Monkey Ball speedrunners as it also slows down the game's clock.
However, others have pointed out the feature may render speed runs null and void for that exact same reason.
More important than the use of the feature by speedrunners is how it lends itself to the game's accessibility. The clip doesn't appear to show a meter running down as slow-mo is active, which may mean you can use it whenever you like for as long as you need to. Those who might struggle with the game, or the harder parts of it, can use it whenever, while others who want the challenge can pretend it isn't an option.
Banana Mania will launch on all major consoles on October 5, 2021. As well as the reveal that it will include a slow-mo feature, Sega has also confirmed the remastered trilogy will allow you to don the colors of your favorite retro consoles via its DLC. A deep dive of the game's official site has also revealed Sonic and Tails will be playable characters, but Sega is yet to confirm that.
