Target Reportedly Getting Big PS5 Restock This Week | Game Rant

Another week, another set of PlayStation 5 restock rumors. Unlike previous ones, though, that fall apart pretty quickly, this upcoming PS5 restock at Target seems legitimate and is a big one to boot.

The PS5 continues to be an elusive console. Retailers lucky enough to receive them sell them out within seconds of listing them, and in many cases, those people turn them around for even greater prices. Target has repeatedly restocked PS5s since the console's launch last year, but has limited purchasing them to online transactions only, making it a matter of store location on top of availability. Sony has been restocking PS5 consoles as well, but has been recently limiting them to current PlayStation owners who receive an invitations to join its PS Direct queues.

In a recent pair of tweets by user @Jake_Randall_YT, it seems like Target is going to be restocking its PS5 supply later this week. The tweets feature images of PS5 listings on the Target devices which detail delivery information, revealing the dates and quantity of consoles that the respective stores will be receiving. Randall thinks the drop is likely to occur sometime between 6:30AM and 9:00AM ET on either Wednesday, July 28, or Thursday, July 29. There is no sign up required to order from Target, but it would be wise to be as ready to check out as possible if one is fortunate enough to snag a console.

Another key detail from Randall's tweets is the sheer quantity of units that are coming in these deliveries. In previous shipments, stores have usually been receiving only a handful of units, never any more than 10, but this restock seems to be quite different. Considering that the PS5's manufacturing situation has not really changed, with chips still being short, and workers being unable to actually do the labor due to the pandemic, it is very interesting just how many units are supposedly shipping out. Randall points out as well that the last Target restock happened at a different time than it has usually been occurring, so there is certainly a very different movement happening with this restock.

Lastly, it is important to mention that this rumor pertains specifically to the $499 disc-based version of the PS5, and not the $399 digital version. While there is potential that the digital version will be resupplied this week as well, it is unlikely that it will be in the same quantity as the disc-based console. However, with the PS5 digital version just receiving a hardware revision, it is not impossible that more units may become available too. Nonetheless, this restock is a good sign of progress in getting people more PlayStation 5 consoles—now if Target could just do something about the bots and scalpers.
