Terraria Uncancelled on Google Stadia, Re-Logic Accounts Restored

Terraria will once again be heading to Google Stadia after previously being cancelled, after Google resolved the situation with banned Google accounts.

The Google Stadia version of Terraria was previously cancelled, after Re-Logic’s founder Andrew Spinks stated his Google account was disabled with no warning. He had attempted to resolve the issue for three weeks straight, to no avail. “I will not be involved with a corporation that values their customers and partners so little,” Spinks tweeted. “Doing business with you is a liability.”

Spinks seemingly still had these issues as of February 10th, and at the time the YouTube channel for Re-Logic was also taken down due to unspecified content violation; despite having no new uploads for three months. As of this time of writing, the channel has now returned.

In a State of the Game announcement on the official Terraria forums- detailing the upcoming Steam Workshop support for texture packs and world sharing- Re-Logic revealed the Google Stadia version of Terraria was back on. This came after Google restored Re-Logic’s accounts, and the hard work of 505 Games.

“As you may have noticed, we had a ton of issues to kick off the year stemming from the locking-down of Redigit’s entire Google account in early January. After a month of pushing (and with the immense support of our fans), Google finally reached out and was able to provide a lot of transparency around the situation and to restore access to all of our accounts. Due to the hard work the Stadia team has put in – as well as our partners at 505 Games – we have decided that we will allow the upcoming launch Terraria on Google Stadia to proceed. The Terraria Stadia build is based on the DR Studios 1.4.0.5 (latest) build, and is currently at Google for certification review.”

The state of game also discussed upcoming UI improvements on console, and improved water effects on mobile.

Terraria is available on Windows PC, Mac, Linux (all via GOG, and Steam), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and coming soon to Google Stadia.

Google staff also recently fixed a game-breaking bug in Journey to the Savage Planet on Google Stadia; after users made outcry over the lack of help, and perceived concern the game would not be fixed as Stadia Games and Entertainment was shut down.

Insiders have also spoken to news outlets. They revealed dozens of Google Stadia games being cancelled– including a horror game by Hideo Kojima- and the platform being “hundreds of thousands” short of subscriber targets. They also claimed development teams were understaffed, denied the software needed over security concerns, and upper management not understanding game developer needs.
