For a while now, players have been frustrated with Game Pass’ and DLSS’ version of The Ascent for not supporting ray tracing. But the differences between the Steam version of the game to Game Pass’ and DLSS’ were extremely noticeable. In addition to the exclusion of ray tracing, Game Pass’ and DLSS’ version of The Ascent’s co-op mode has also been difficult to manage while using crossplay.

Luckily, it seems that some of the issues are not going to be a problem anymore going forward. Neon Giant has released a list of fixes—some specific to PC and others that apply to all platforms. The PC-only fixes include:

  • Improvement of performance in DX12, also with Ray Tracing
  • Available ray tracing for players on the Windows Store
  • Improved loading of NPCs
  • CPU performance mode for lower-end PCs

They also include a note to players in their section of PC updates that reads, “On first running of the update, there will be a 20-25 second ‘stall’ on loading to Main Menu to allow some caching to happen before you play. This is a one time event.”

Other updates have been done to all platforms, which includes fixes involving stability, save progress, gameplay, translation, and assorted other fixes. You can read through the full list of updates on Steam.
