The Overwhelmer is one of the most powerful weapons in The Ascent. It unleashes a devastating ballistic and fire damage AOE on enemies. To get the weapon, players will need to progress to an area called the Edge. This area is to the right of the Grinder on the map, and just to the east of the ring.

Those that have already visited the location can hail a taxi and fast travel to the area, where they can find the weapon just past the fast travel point. Use the following tips to get the Overwhelmer and create an ideal build for the gun.
Overwhelmer Location
From the taxi spawn, all people have to do is walk up past the Clone store towards a secluded area with ships, supply boxes, and loot boxes. As soon as gamers enter that area, look for the red glow of the weapon inside of the open ship. Simply walk in and pick it up to obtain the weapon.

Anyone that does not have the location discovered can look for the top corner of the edge that sticks out. There are three yellow chest indicators in that area, so it should be easy to find. In addition to the gun, there are a number of supply crates to break open. Players can also find two chests and an advanced component here, so make sure to clear the area thoroughly.
The Overwhelmer Stats & Best Build
The base version of the Overwhelmer does 101-142 damage. It explodes on impact, causing ballistic damage and the explosions inflict additional fire damage to anyone caught in the AOE. In total, the base Overwhelmer dishes out 607 DPS. It looks cool too, and provides a nice balance between machine guns and launchers.
Considering the gun can be accessed at a very low level, the Overwhelmer's damage is incredible. With upgrades, players can get those damage numbers even higher. Players will want to use the weapon against humans and other biological enemies.
Best Build
Gamers will want to allocate their skill points to maximize the Overwhelmer's potential DPS owhile emphasizing survivability. With any build, Vital Signs should be a priority. Make sure to get the character's heath bar up to at least 200 before level 20. As great as augmentations are, characters wielding this weapon will not need to rely on them. Critical Hit Rate, Aiming, and Weapon Handling will be the primary skills to invest in.

- Critical Hit Rate is essential for players that use weapons more than augmentations. A higher critical hit chance means more damage overall.
- Aiming improves weapon spread, making it easier to hit shots with the Overwhelmer. The huge machine gun has a large spread at the end of the clip, and narrowing the bullet path will make a huge difference.
- Weapon Handling will help indents reload and swap weapons faster. As one might expect, the Overwhelmer is a huge gun with a slower than average reload, so this skill is important.
In summary, players building for the Overwhelmer should distribute their skill points as below:
- Vital Signs: 10-20
- Critical Hit Rate: 15+
- Weapon Handling: 10+
- Aiming: 10+
Secondary & Armor
As a secondary, players will need to have a weapon that does energy or digital damage. Having all of the four types of damage covered will help indents adapt when fighting mobs, since each class of enemies is resistant to certain types of damage and vulnerable to others. Robotic enemies are vulnerable to energy and digital damage, but resistant to ballistic and fire damage. The opposite applies to living creatures.

Armor plays a large role in each build as well. In the menu, players can inspect the armor resistance that each piece provides. Some pieces have attributes that apply extra skill points when worn. Players will also receive boosts from some pieces based on skill point allocation. The system seems confusing, but the main priority to analyze is overall armor rating and attributes/boosts
Make sure that the armor equipped protects against all forms of damage and boosts the skills mentioned above. Cybernetics and Biometric attributes are preferred. As gamers progress, they will have plenty of gear to choose from.
