Pumping Money Into the Alberta Economy Too
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us has had plans for a live-action adaptation since 2014, but they have never gained any traction until last March, when a TV show by HBO was announced. After several months of planning, The Last of Us is set to being shooting this month.
The events of the game take players from Texas to Massachusetts to Pennsylvania and all over the United States. However, a lot of the filming will be taking place in Alberta, Canada. A small town called Fort Macleod is currently being transformed into the set of the TV show.
Fort Macleod has been the set of films like Brokeback Mountain, and more recently Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the Fargo TV series. Now, it will serve as an undisclosed town in The Last of Us. Images from CTV News show the crew at work transforming it into an American town.
We see a few city officials and citizens alike sounding like they have any interest in what the production really is. Some business owners are just excited that filmmakers are using the town for it. After all, a lot of money is going into each episode of The Last of Us and that means a big boost for Alberta’s economy.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are set to star as Joel and Ellie, respectively. We do not yet know how many episodes will be made in this season or when it will premier, but we will be sure to keep our eyes peeled for more information.
