The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf Trailer Features Kaer Morhen And Filavandrel

Netflix just dropped the first trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf. The animated show will follow Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, during his younger days. The show is set way before Geralt of Rivia’s time and gives us a glimpse at the adventures and monsters Vesemir will face.

The initial few scenes show Vesemir as a boy, undergoing the Trial of the Grasses, the process by which young boys are exposed to deadly mutagens to improve their physical and sensory prowess. We additionally get to see other familiar faces like the elf, Filavandrel, who appears in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels and also Netflix’s live action show.

Perhaps most importantly, we see Kaer Morhen actually filled with Witchers. In the Witcher books, and even during the events of the games, Geralt is one of the last few remaining Witchers. Kaer Morhen is mostly decrepit by then, so it will be interesting to see the fortress during its glory days, when it was teeming with life.

The last scene of the trailer showed Vesemir leading a charge of about 13 Witchers charging up their Signs. That’s also an indicator of where in the timeline the show is based, as I mentioned before, not many Witchers remain during the time when the books and games are set. And yes, we also got to see Vesemis chilling in a bathtub.

Looks like we’re soon going to get two on-screen Vesemirs, considering that at the end of season 1, Geralt was gravely wounded and on his way to Kaer Morhen in Netflix’s The Witcher live action series.

Netflix seems to be on a roll with their curation of animated shows. Only yesterday the streaming giant revealed that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will be available to stream in December. Part 6 of the legendary anime will be set in Florida in 2011 and focus on Jolene Cujoh, the daughter of the one and only Jotaro Cujo. It will come to Netflix this December.

Before that, in July, it was revealed that Netflix is making a live-action Pokemon series headed by Lucifer co-showrunner and executive producer Joe Henderson.
