This Week In Fortnite: Ariana Grande, Explicit Emotes, And Street Fighter Round Two

It's been a surprisingly busy week for Fortnite fans, with Ariana Grande coming in for her Rift Tour, rumours that the game will be moving to a brand new engine in the next season, and the second coming of some Street Fighter characters. Here are the biggest stories from the island this week.

Ariana Grande Rift Tour Concert

By far the biggest bit of news to come out of Fortnite this week is the arrival of Ariana Grande's Rift Tour. From yesterday, fans have been able to take part in the virtual concert, which has players flying through different rifts and competing in little minigames whilst a virtual Ariana Grande sings some of her biggest hits. Players can check out the virtual concert at specific times over the next few days and will earn a special glider for doing so, as well as being able to buy a skin of the artist herself.

Explicit Bear Hug Emote Censored

Epic Games has had to remove an emote for appearing too NSFW, just a few hours after adding it to the store. The emote itself is supposed to let players bear-hug one another, but under specific circumstances became something a bit too friendly for Fortnite. The emote still hasn't been put back up yet, but at least it's not scarring any players now.

Street Fighter Comes Back For Round Two

In a surprising move, more Street Fighter characters have made their way to Fortnite. After being randomly teased out of nowhere, Epic revealed that Cammy and Guile would be coming to the island, complete with some unique emotes. Some fans are a bit concerned about how Guile looks, but most are just happy to see more Street Fighter representation. Let's see if more fighters make their way to the island soon.

Fortnite Kills Off Bushranger

Much less happy news here, but it looks like fan-favourite character Bushranger might no longer be with us. After completing a quest involving collecting alien eggs for the woodland character, players found an unmarked gravestone in the area that he originally stood, alongside some sombre funeral music. There's been no official announcement from Epic regarding Bushranger's fate, but several leaks have indicated that the character is being reborn as a tree. Surprisingly dark for Fortnite, but at least it gives the character a chance to return.

Season 8 Of Fortnite Might Be Moving To Unreal Engine 5

This season of Fortnite might have introduced Rick, Superman, and aliens to Fortnite, but Season 8 could be doing something even bigger and moving the game to Unreal Engine 5. According to reliable Fortnite leaker HYPEX, Fortnite's next season will have the game moving from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. It's not made clear what benefit this will have for the gameplay, but it's likely to improve the graphics a fair bit, and might even result in a new style for the game.
