This Week’s Indie Game Releases (September 5 – 11)

It’s a surprisingly packed week for indie game releases, bringing with it something for everyone – whether you’re into crafting, shoot ‘em ups, platformers, or action adventure RPGs.

Here are our picks for this week in indie games, September 5 – 11.

Blon – September 7 (PC, iOS, Android)

Blon – from developer Lazy Kiwi – is a cute-looking runner that features elements of platforming and combat and you unlock spells, heroes, and weapons and journey through a variety of worlds in order to rescue your family. Blon is available now for PC via Steam, iOS, and Android devices.

Knights & Guns – September 7 (Switch)

The aptly titled Knights & Guns – from developer Baltoro Games – puts you in a medieval world with guns as you and your fellow knights battle an alien threat in this vertical shooter with a fantastic art design. Knights & Guns is available now on Nintendo Switch.

Residual – September 9 (PC, XBX, XB1, Switch)

Residual – from developer Orangepixel – is a pixelated arcade-style platformer where you’ll craft tools and mining devices all while fighting against hostile aliens on strange and forgotten planets. Residual will be available for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on September 9. A free demo is available now on Steam.

Ultra Age – September 9 (PS4, Switch)

Ultra Age is an action adventure game from developers Next Stage and Visual Dart in which you’ll use your massive sword to fight off monsters in a post-apocalyptic world in an attempt to save humankind. High-speed and combo-focused combat will keep you on your toes as you upgrade your sword and its abilities. Ultra Age will be available for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on September 9.

Kraken Academy!! – September 10 (PC)

Kraken Academy!! – from developer Happy Broccoli Games (great name!) – puts you in the shoes of a brand new student attending a high school where nothing is as it seems. Full of monsters and elements of the occult, you’ll team up with a magical kraken to manipulate a time loop and save the world. High school sure has changed since I was there. Kraken Academy!! will be available for PC via Steam on September 10.

The Rewinder – September 10 (PC)

With a style that looks similar to something like Narita Boy, MistyMountainStudio’ The Rewinder appears to be a game for fans of pixelated adventures as they take part in this adventure puzzle game based on Chinese mythology. Known as a Rewinder, your character has the ability to communicate with spirits and explore other people’s memories to uncover the mysteries of the past. The Rewinder will be available for PC via Steam on September 10.

A few other indie games to check out includes a handful of titles that are in Early Access, or have already been released and are making their debut on other platforms:
