Owners of either Sony or Microsoft's next-generation devices will be pleased to learn that Ubisoft will be updating Assassin's Creed Odyssey to take advantage of the extra power afforded by the new consoles. Scheduled for release tomorrow (August 24, 2021) at 8 am CEST, title update 1.6.0 will add support for a 60 FPS when playing on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. This isn't a next-gen port, but simply an added feature to the current PS4 and Xbox One versions.
Maybe it's not the kind of update most players would have expected, but it's still a tremendously nice gesture. Odyssey was originally released back in 2018 before Ubisoft took a year off to focus on the next-gen development of Valhalla. With the new console generation nearly a year old now, it didn't seem likely that Odyssey would be receiving any kind of updates on consoles.

A more detailed description of the patch on Ubisoft's website doesn't mention if 60 FPS will be the only option when running on next-gen devices. We do have patch sizes, at least, with PS4 users needing to download 470 MB while Xbox One users will only need to grab 370 MB. The difference is likely in how compression works on each system, though it should be a snappy install on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Interim patches like this are what I expected would be the norm going into the next generation of consoles. There was no reason that late-generation titles needed a new port, though I guess Sony didn't get quite get the memo.
