In the Final Fantasy franchise, Ultima is a recurring spell and often one of the most powerful in the game. This is no less true in Final Fantasy 8 where it can deal massive amounts of damage and boost your party's stats to grand heights through the game's Junction system.

Despite the spell's reputation for rarity, there are multiple ways that you can stock up on it. This is a great strategy for the game as accruing spells is the best way to increase the combat capabilities of your party members.
Ultima Draw Points
There are a few draw points containing Ultima in the game, with a large amount of them being hidden. To reveal them, you must equip the GF support ability Move-Find, which can be learned from Siren for 40 AP.
The first draw point players are likely to come across is the one in the entrance to the Shumi Village. You must pay 5,000 Gil for the privilege of accessing this draw point each time, and it's quite an inefficient way to amass large amounts of the spell.
The following Ultima draw points are one use only and all invisible, requiring the use of Move-Find:
- The draw point in the mayor's house in Fisherman's Horizon.
- The draw point in the Deep Sea Research Center.
- The draw point in the armory of Ultimecia's castle.
- The draw point in the Lunatic Pandora that only appears if you make the right choices in the Laguna dream sequences.
Possibly the best way to farm Ultima draw points is by using the points on the Island Closest to Heaven and the Island Closest to Hell. These islands have very difficult random encounters but also a mass of hidden draw points that don't show up even with Move-Find. They can be accessed once you have ownership of the Ragnarok on Disc Four.
Refining Ultima
Using the GF ability Forbid Mag-RF it is possible to refine various items into Ultima. This ability is acquired from Bahamut and learned automatically. The table below shows which items can be refined into Ultima.

Possibly the best way to get lots of Ultima spells is to use the draw points on the Islands Closest to Heaven and Hell, while using fights against the monsters that drop the items in the tables above to waste time while waiting for the draw points to replenish.
Drawing From Ultima Weapon
The final method that you can use to obtain Ultima spells is by simply drawing them from Ultima Weapon. This superboss is found at the bottom of the Deep Sea Research Center and is also the location of the Eden GF. Along with Eden and Ultima, you can also draw Regen and Dispel from it.
This method is not recommended, however, as it will take a long time to stock up fully on Ultima and the battle is a very difficult one. The spell can also be drawn from Omega Weapon, but this is even less advised.
