Ghostwire: Tokyo Delayed To 2022

Tango Gameworks has officially delayed Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022. The team says the extra time will allow them to protect the health of the development team, while ensuring the game is up to its high standards.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was previously slated for a 2021 launch, although a firm date was never set. The pandemic has delayed numerous games over the past year, and it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Tango Gameworks has decided to push its release.

"We've made the decision to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022," the developer announced. "We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we've been hard at work building."

Tango Gameworks continued, "At the same time, we're also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we've always envisioned it."

Earlier this year it was revealed that Ghostwire would feature almost no loading screens and run at dynamic 4K on PS5. It's also capable of handling 4K resolutions on the new-gen system – and gameplay footage certainly showed off a gorgeous-looking game.

Bethesda is the parent company of Tango Gameworks, and was recently acquired by Microsoft. Despite this, the game will still be a timed-exclusive on PS5. With this new delay, that means Xbox fans probably won't see Ghostwire: Tokyo on their console of choice until at least 2023.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will arrive on PC and PS5 early next year.
