Sea Of Thieves Breaks Player Record In June With 4.8 Million Pirates

Captain Jack Sparrow and company sailed into Sea of Thieves last June as part of the Pirate's Life update. This not only propelled the game to the top of Steam's best sellers list that month, but it also caused Sea of Thieves to break its previous record for most active monthly users.

According to Rare creative director Mike Chapman, there were 4.8 million pirates in the Sea of Thieves back in June, which was the biggest and best month the game had ever seen.

"The impact of A Pirate's Life has been truly humbling, it has blown away even our wildest expectations," said Chapman. "We've had a record-breaking month, with 4.8 million players in June. It is a huge moment for Sea of Thieves and the team is buzzing with the impact."

Chapman thanked all players for their support and reminded everyone that "there's so much more creative potential in Sea of Thieves, and there's so many more adventures to share," a statement that is likely to fuel further speculation of future crossovers.
