In the early stage of The Outer Worlds, you'll visit the beautiful town of Edgewater. While there, you'll meet many interesting people, including a man named Martin Abernathy who gives you a quest titled The Long Tomorrow. The premise of the mission is simple enough as all you need to do is grab a crate of Experimental Anthrocillin.

However, fetching the gear can be a little tricky because it requires bypassing a locked door. Plus, Abernathy isn't the only one seeking Anthrocillin, so you have a big choice to make at the end of the quest. Explanations about how to complete the mission and the consequences of your decisions are in this guide.
Initiating The Quest
To start the quest, you need to speak with Martin Abernathy in his home, which is located in the middle of Edgewater.
- In the conversation, the strange man will ask you to freelance for him.
- When you agree to help him out, he'll request that you travel to the old community center to get the medicine he wants. Say you'll do it and end the discussion.
- Once you leave Abernathy's home, turn left to find Esther Blaine. She is a Spacer's Choice actuary who claims that Abernathy doesn't actually need the medicine and is just a hypochondriac.
- The eavesdropper believes you should sell the Anthrocillin to her instead. You don't need to make any decision on whose getting the item just yet. Simply end the conversation and set off for Emerald Vale Community Center.
Traveling To And Entering Emerald Vale Community Center
The Community Center is down the street from Edgewater, heading northwest.
- There are two entrances to the building. The front door is guarded by several Marauders that you may have to take down as sneaking past isn't easy. Alternatively, you can opt to enter from the back door, which allows you to avoid enemies but means circumventing a minefield.

- Inside, several Marauders are patrolling the Center. Whether you try to sneak past or beat them to death with the best melee weapons is up to you. Your aim is to get into the first aid room on the first floor.
Getting Into The First Aid Room
Here are all the ways to get into the first aid room:
- Loot A Keycard – One of the hooligans on the second floor of the building is holding the key you need. After killing the guy, you can loot it from his corpse.
- Create A Keycard (Requires 25 Hack) – There is a terminal inside the front entrance behind the desk. If you're hacking skills are up to it, you can create a keycard using the said terminal.
- Take A Key From The Director's Office (Requires 10 Lockpick) – Another room on the first floor is the Director's office. It contains a terminal, riot control armor, and a sawed-off shotgun. Also, there's a locked bin, which requires some lockpicking skills to open. If you manage it, you find a keycard inside.
- Pick The Lock Of The Door (Requires 40 Lockpick) – If you're a high-level lockpicker, then you don't need to worry about keys. You can simply pick the lock of the first aid room door.
Once the door is open, go to the left side of the room to find the Experimental Anthrocillin that you want.
Deciding Who Gets The Anthrocillin
With the Anthrocillin in your inventory, you can now go back to Edgewater. You then have to make one of the hardest choices in the game, as you can give the medicine to one of three people.

Give It To Martin Abernathy
Handing the Anthrocillin over to the guy who gave you the quest in the first place earns you bits and a boost in Spacer’s Choice reputation. You can also ask him about being a hypochondriac (if your medicine skill is high enough). Then persuade or intimidate the man, so he hands you some extra bits. It remains unclear if Abernathy actually needed the medicine or not.
Give It To Esther Blaine
The woman beside Abernathy's house, Esther, will pay you more than Martin. And you can use persuasion or intimidation to force her to part with additional bits. Plus, your Spacer's choice reputation will increase. In the conversation with her, you can learn that she plans to use the medicine to help several people around Edgewater. You can even see Rosemary in the sick room right by the southwest entrance and convince her to take the Anthrocillin.
Give It To Constable Reyes
The game makes out that you can only hand the Anthrocillin over to either Abernathy or Blaine. Yet, there is another option in the form of Constable Reyes. She hangs out in the Edgewater Constabulary, which is near the southwest entrance. Giving it to the Constable will increase your reputation with the board and earn you bits. She intends to lock the medicine up forever as it is considered contraband.
Get More Than One Reward
If you are not worried about morals, you can give the Anthrocillin to Abernathy, Blaine, or Reyes, kill or pickpocket them, and then give it to someone else. By doing this, you get extra rewards, but you'll have to live with your deceitful actions.
