Final Fantasy 14 is celebrating its eighth anniversary with The Rising event underway in-game for players to celebrate the occasion with a sale in the Optional Item Store and some new short stories.
Some of the new items that have been added to the Optional Item Store include the Wind-up Ardbert minion for $5.00/£2.88 and the Authentic Sultana's Seven furnishing for $5.00/£2.88. These were actually last year's event items from The Rising, so players who missed out can ensure they still get them for a small price.
That's not all either, the Optional Item Store is also currently holding a sale from Friday, August 27 at 1:00 am until Tuesday, September 21 at 12:00 am (PDT). Among the discounted items are phials of Fantasia, which means that it's the perfect time to stock up on the appearance-changing potion in time for Endwalker. Prices start at $7.00/ £4.03 for a single phial.

There are also discounts on lots of minions, emotes, and mounts, including the coveted SDS Fenrir mount for $20.99/£13.99, which has an enhanced mount speed. Plenty of outfits are also in the sale, including those of your favourite Scions, such as Alphinaud and Y'shtola. So if you're wanting to get a new glamour outfit for your Warrior of Light, now is the best time.
Square Enix has also announced a new collection of short stories called Tales from the Twilight as part of the anniversary celebrations, featuring five different shorts that will be periodically released over the next month. These stories will include well-known characters from the game. The first tale, The Burden of Duty, is live on the website right now and focuses on Yugiri. Be warned, these stories can contain main scenario quest spoilers.
