Lost Judgment Might Be Getting A Demo

A listing on Japan's PSN appears to have revealed Lost Judgment is getting a demo, though it remains unclear whether it will be available to everyone.

The summer is almost over and Gamescom week is in full swing. That means the video game release dry spell is about to come to an end. You could argue that it already has with games like Psychonauts 2 and Madden NFL 22 hitting the market. Things will only continue to ramp up through the end of the year with a big September right around the corner.

One of the biggest games launching next month is Sega's Lost Judgment, and it looks like those eagerly awaiting the sequel, or perhaps still on the fence about it, will get the chance to play it early. That's according to Twitter account PSN releases. The account revealed that what appears to be a preview of the game has been discovered on Japan's PlayStation Network.

It's unclear right now whether the demo will be exclusive to Japanese PlayStation owners or if it will be available ahead of Lost Judgment's launch worldwide. If there is going to be a demo, it seems unlikely that Sega would limit it to Japan after the work its development team has put into ensuring the game gets a simultaneous worldwide release.

Lost Judgment will be the first game set in the Yakuza universe to launch everywhere at the same time. All previous Yakuza games, as well as Judgment, have been released in Japan before coming to the rest of the world. According to Lost Judgment's producer, the game's simultaneous worldwide release tripled the work of its dev team. It only makes sense that after all that work, Sega would want everyone to get their first taste of Lost Judgment at the same time.

A new trailer for Lost Judgment debuted during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, and it's possible that its demo could be officially announced before the event is over. It's one of a few games released this year that demonstrates how keen Sega is for its IPs to crossover between its games. Lost Judgment will include a Master System with eight playabale games. Meanwhile, Yakuza's Kiryu Kazuma will be a playable character in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania later this year.
