One Billion Downloads
Niantic is celebrating 5 years of Pokémon GO with a new video celebrating how the mobile game has brought communities together. Pokémon GO has trainers walking around the real world to catch Pokémon and go to real-world places to capture gyms.
For me and many others, Pokémon GO was a fad. It was fun to check out for a few weeks before moving on. However, millions of people continue to play, and it has some amazing stats to back up just how popular Pokémon GO was and continues to be.
Here are some Pokémon GO stats:
- More than 450 million friendships have been forged through Pokémon GO.
- Pokémon GO has been downloaded more than one billion times across 150 countries and territories.
- Niantic Explorers have collectively walked over 38 billion kilometers, a number that’s growing every day.
More than one billion downloads. That is all you have to say about the popularity of Pokémon GO and Pokémon in general. There aren’t many games that can boast the worldwide appeal of Pokémon. It is clear the Pokémon is still a worldwide phenomenon with over one billion downloads.
Pokémon GO isn’t a game that interests me that much as a very casual Pokémon fan. However, I am happy to see its success. If I were a kid especially, I would absolutely love this. Walk around my neighborhood and catch Pokémon like a real trainer? This is such a good idea that encourages kids to get some exercise.
Pokémon GO may not be for me, but it is a huge success at what it set out to do. To get hundreds of millions of people to go outside and catch Pokémon while hanging out with friends? That’s a great goal that they have had great success with it. Here to five more years of Pokémon GO.
