New World Devs Will Soon Be Adding a Character Transfer Feature
New World, Amazon’s fantasy MMO, has just gone live earlier this week, and it has already been a general hit. Despite some high profile troubles with ridiculously long queues and a lore that the gaming community has dubbed as silly, it has retained its top spot on Steam Top 100—surpassing Dota 2, CS:GO, and PUBG.
As MMO gamers continued to flock to Amazon Game Studio’s new game, Amazon has taken certain measures to stop new character creation on servers that are already full. Thankfully, New World players will be given a notification to let them know which ones are full, up, down, or currently undergoing maintenance. “We are implementing a new feature to indicate if a world is full,” the devs confirmed on social media. “You can check if a world is full on the server status page.”
New World players who have already created their characters on a full server can still continue to queue to log in and play. However, as recently revealed by AGS, they will no longer be able to do so if the server they choose to play in is already on full capacity. However, AGS is soon going to release a character transfer feature. With that feature coming soon, New World devs are encouraging their players to complete character creation on a low population server and start playing the game now, instead of just waiting in line in order to play.
New World has been very successful and has exceeded the gaming community’s expectations. Amazon Founder and Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos even took to social media to share his pleasure about the game’s success.
He then praised the New World team for their persistence as they viewed “setbacks as helpful obstacles that drive learning.” “After many failures and setback in gaming, we have a success,” Bezos said. “Whatever your goals are, do not give up, no matter how hard it gets.”
