Bright Memory: Infinite Gets A New Trailer, Confirms 2021 Release

It’s been a while since we heard from Bright Memory developer FYQD Studio, but he’s here to assure fans that Bright Memory: Infinite is still on track for a 2021 release. He’s even got a brand new trailer to prove it.

To give us a bit of context for the trailer, a quick review. Bright Memory was first released on Steam Early Access back in 2019 as the work of just one dude, Zeng “FYQD” Xiancheng, who made the whole thing in Unreal Engine 4 in his spare time. He later got a grant from Epic to release what was titled “Episode 1” back in March 2020, afterward promising to work on the game full-time. He also switched from the episodic model to a more conventional full release, renaming the game Bright Memory: Infinite.

In Bright Memory, you play Shelia, a warrior academic Science Research Organization (SRO). Shelia is trying to stop a mysterious military organization from acquiring an ancient artifact from a floating island that can potentially raise the dead, and she’s prepared to fight both heavily armed soldiers and mythical monsters to do it.

When the game was released it received mixed reviews on Metacritic, but a solid 91% on Steam. Critiques mostly centered on Bright Memory’s short length, bugs, and poor translation from Chinese, but on the other hand, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more visually stunning game at just $10 USD.

And it’s hard to argue with what Bright Memory presents. You’ve got a badass female protagonist who can fire energy blasts from her sword, a grappling hook for both combat and quick map traversal, a variety of futuristic firearms, and a giant cudgel-wielding statue monster. What’s not to like?

FYQD didn’t provide us with a more specific release window for Bright Memory: Infinite in the latest trailer, but he did confirm it’s coming this year. And if you bought the game on PC, you’ll get a free upgrade when Infinite releases.
