Call of Duty: Everything Coming to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone in Season 5

Season 5 has been announced for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. Like the previous Call of Duty seasons, the update is completely free and brings a handful of new additions to each game as well as continuing the overarching stories that the previous 4 seasons have established and been building up through a number of in-game events and cutscenes. This newest season, however, brings an immense amount of new content, including the return of some fan favorites as well as numerous entirely new additions for the series.

Season 5 was revealed with an intro cinematic in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, followed by the developers announcing what is coming in the season. Of course, the additions from Season 5 are split up between a number of different game modes. There is new content coming for the zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, new content and maps for the multiplayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, new content for Call of Duty: Warzone, and content that can be used across all three. It can be a lot to keep track of, but here is a comprehensive breakdown of what new content players can expect across all of Call of Duty's modes.

The most eye-catching addition coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the new Double Agent game mode. The mode is entirely new to the series and works quite a bit differently than its other modes. The mode is for ten players who are assigned one of three roles, Double Agents, Investigator, or Operatives. Players all start with pistols but can gather other guns and pieces of equipment from around the game's maps to complete their objectives. For Operatives and the Investigator, their goal is to discover the Double Agents and kill them, while Double Agents have to either set off a number of explosives or kill all the other players. Later on in the season, the popular Demolition mode will also make a return to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Season 5 also brings 5 new multiplayer maps to Black Ops Cold War and a new flamethrower scorestreak. The season also brings new zombies content, including a new perk known as Death Perception. This perk allows players to see zombies through walls and obstructions as outlines. Season 5 also brings the new field upgrade Tesla Storm which causes lightning to arc between all players in the game. Zombies players who prefer to play the Outbreak mode can also look forward to the new grapple gun equipment, a new region, new objective, new intel, and a new tank vehicle that should help players survive the hordes.

Developer Raven Software also has a lot of new content coming to Call of Duty: Warzone, including two new perks. The first new perk, Combat Scout highlights enemies the player damages and automatically pings them for their squadmates. The second perk is Tempered, which makes each armor plate the player has equipped absorb 75 points of damage before breaking. Season 5 also has a lot of secrets for Call of Duty: Warzone, including new mobile broadcast centers that can spawn in a variety of locations on every map and another new point of interest that is being kept secret by the developers for now.

Another highlight of Season 5 is Call of Duty: Warzone's new Gulag makeover to the fan-favorite Black Ops 2 map Rush. Rush is already featured as a map in Black Ops Cold War, but its paintball arena area should add some new dynamic elements to Gulag fights in Warzone. Later in the season Call of Duty: Warzone fans will also get access to the new Clash game mode. Clash is being described as the successor to Rumble and pits two teams of fifty against one another in a massive battle spanning all of Verdansk. The developers have also confirmed that players can expect to get a mid-season event that may finally answer the questions surrounding Warzone's red doors at some point in Season 5 as well.

Every season also brings content that can be accessed by all players across both games. Season 5 in particular brings about three new operatives as well as a number of new weapons. The first operative is featured in the season's main artwork and is Kitsune, a Japanese cybersecurity expert and world-class thief. The second operative is Stryker who is described as the ultimate representation of US Special Forces in the 1980s. The final operative arrives later in the season and is the popular character Hudson, however, both Hudson and Stryker will only be available through operator bundles in the Call of Duty store.

For new weapons that Call of Duty players can look forward to, the first one on the list is the EM2 assault rifle that will be available at launch. The EM2 is a British assault rifle build around mid-range encounters with a slower fire rate but a higher range that is unlocked for free at Tier 15 of the Season 5 battle pass. The second weapon is the TEC-9 SMG that is a semi-auto submachine gun built for close to middle range fights that can be unlocked at Tier 31. Players will also be able to unlock the new Cane melee weapon that is also available at launch. Later in the season, the Marshal secondary will also be added as a break-action pistol with two functions similarly to a sawed-off shotgun.

There are a number of other new additions coming with Season 5, such as new prestige levels, and there will surely be more as part of the Season 5 Reloaded event as well. It is great to see the games continue to be supported by their developers, and hopefully, the rumors of Black Ops Cold War getting support for a second year end up being true so that its fans can continue to enjoy it. Either way, Season 5 seems to be a great time for new and returning players to jump into Verdansk.
