Dark Souls 3: Sirris Of The Sunless Realms Questline, A Step By Step Guide

Quick Links

The Dark Souls franchise is known for its incredible lore, great boss fights, immersive worlds, and brutal learning curve. Part of what makes Dark Souls unique is how vague its systems are. NPCs are a prime example of this. Some NPCs offer quests with unique rewards, although they are typically vague in how to complete them.

Dark Souls 3's Sirris of the Sunless Realms is one such NPC. Most players will meet her in the early game and completely miss her questline, voiding access to her unique armor set and the powerful Sunless Talisman. In this guide, we'll be going over how to start Sirris' quest, the quest's various fail conditions, and every step tied to helping this Blade of the Darkmoon. Here is a step by step guide of Sirris of the Sunless Realm's quest in Dark Souls 3.

How To Start The Sirris Questline

You'll first find Sirris at Firelink Shrine after visiting the Road of Sacrifices. Speak to Anri of Astora and her companion, Horace, then head back to Firelink Shrine. This will cause Sirris to spawn directly in front of the bonfire. Speak to Sirris to start her quest.

Failing Sirris' Quest

Before we continue with the guide, we need to quickly discuss how easy it is to fail this quest. If you increase your reputation with the Rosaria's Fingers Covenant at all, you will automatically fail this quest. What happens to Sirris depends on whether you've started the quest:

  • Started Sirris' Quest: Sirris becomes hostile for the rest of the playthrough. She will no longer visit Firelink Shrine.
  • Before starting Sirrris' Quest: Sirris will never spawn at Firelink Shrine.

Giving Rosaria Pale Tongues to respec your stats or change your appearance does not void this quest.

Killing Yorshka

It's also possible to fail Sirris' quest by killing Company Captain Yorshka, the leader of the Blades of the Darkmoon Covenant. You have to go out of your way to find Yorshka and kill her, so don't worry about accidentally voiding the quest via this method.

Encounter Sirris At Firelink Shrine Again

Your next encounter with Sirris will occur after you find the Dreamchaser's Ashes. You'll find these ashes at Farron Keep. Give the ashes to the Shrine Handmaiden, then change zones. Head back to Firelink Shrine to find Sirris in her previous spot. Speak to her to learn the Dark Loyalty Gesture.

Where To Find The Dreamchaser's Ashes

Climb up the ladder across from the entrance to the Abyss Watchers to find the Watchdogs of Farron Covenant shrine. Run through the exit to the left of the bonfire and hang right. Follow the path until you find a Crystal Lizard. The wall to your right will have an illusory wall. Behind it, you'll find a corpse with the Dreamchaser's Ashes.

Assist Sirris At Irithyll Of The Boreal Valley

Players will encounter Sirris for a third time at Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. This encounter is easy to miss. Once you've defeated High Lord Wolnir, you'll have to cross a bridge guarded by a Sulyvahn Beast—a four-legged creature with a long snout that periodically spews lightning from its mouth. You'll need to kill this enemy to enter Irithyll. If you can't enter Irithyll, you'll need to defeat the Deacons of the Deep at the Cathedral of the Deep. Once in the city, rest at the bonfire, travel to another location, then return. Ember yourself, then head to the bridge. You should see a summoning sign from Sirris.

Interact with the sign to enter her world as a phantom. You must help Sirris defeat Creighton the Wanderer. This enemy is extremely aggressive and can dish out a large amount of damage. Try to attack the phantom with Sirris to stunlock him.

Once the invader is defeated, you'll be sent back to your world. Travel to Firelink Shrine to speak with Sirris once again. She'll thank you for your help, giving a Blessed Mail Breaker and the Silvercat Ring as thanks.

Help Sirris Defeat Holy Knight Hodrick

Continue through the game as normal until you reach Aldrich. Defeating this boss will cause Sirris to move. She has unfinished business with her grandfather, Hodrick, as displayed by a Budding Green Blossom left in the Shrine Handmaiden's inventory.

If you joined the Mound Makers Covenant already, you might have already talked to Hodrick in the Pit of Hollows. If not, you can find him at the Curse-Rotted Greatwood's boss arena in Undead Settlement. You'll need to defeat the Curse-Rotted Greatwood at this point if you haven't already. While Embered, interact with Sirris' summoning sign. This will summon you to her world, tasking you with killing Hodrick. He's fairly aggressive, using a Flameberge to dish out absurd amounts of damage. Try to parry of backstab Hodrick when his attention is fixated on Sirris.

Defeating Hodrick will send you back to your world. Fast travel to Firelink Shrine when you're ready.

Sirris Quest Endings

When you arrive at Firelink Shrine, Sirris will thank you for helping her and request to swear fealty to you. Your response to her request will determine how the quest ends.

  • Accept Sirris' Fealty: She will become completely passive to you and vanish when you leave Firelink Shrine.
  • Deny Sirris' Fealty: Sirris will become Hollow, residing in the Pit of Hollows for the rest of the current playthrough.

If you're only interested in obtaining Sirris' belongings, accept her fealty. She will become completely passive, allowing you to kill her in Firelink Shrine to obtain the Sunless Talisman and armor set. Should Sirrus leave, you'll need to travel to the Pit of Hollows after the Lorian and Lothric boss fight to find her items.

Sirris Of The Sunless Realm's Items

Sirris will drop the Sunless Talisman when slain, arguably one of the best talismans in Dark Souls 3 for dark miracles. Completing her quest will also add the Sunless Set to the Shrine Handmaiden's inventory. The Sunless Set can be purchased for 23,000 Souls.
