Death Stranding PC Game Pass release date has been confirmed. Microsoft’s official Twitter account for PC Game Pass has been teasing the arrival of Death Stranding all week, and now it’s official: Death Stranding will arrive on PC Game Pass on August 23rd. Helmed by Hideo Kojima, a developer best known for his work on the Metal Gear series, Death Stranding was originally released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2019 before a PC release two years ago.

Death Stranding‘s arrival on PC Game Pass is a great fit for the service, but that doesn’t mean that Death Stranding Xbox Game Pass will happen. Sony released Death Stranding on PlayStation in 2019, but 505 Games is releasing a PC port. Sony still seems to manage related to Death Stranding heavily, so it’s unlikely that Death Stranding Xbox Game Pass will happen.
Death Stranding is Kojima’s first game from Konami’s Kojima Productions which was created after the split in 2015, is an open-world action game set in the post-disaster US. You play as a courier who delivers supplies to cities and battles creatures that have appeared on Earth.
One thing that should be stated is that the Death Stranding PC game pass will be the original version, which means that the Game Pass version does not include the improvements and additions made by Kojima Productions in the Death Stranding Director’s Cut. This includes new story missions, weapons, delivery equipment, and combat mechanics. This could be due to existing licensing agreements between Kojima Productions and Sony.
It’s no surprise that Death Stranding is coming to PC Game Pass. Microsoft’s official Twitter account teased the game multiple times earlier this week. Kojima Productions is also working with Microsoft to make a brand new game. The new IP will use Microsoft’s cloud technology, which Kojima stated is a never-before-seen concept. The new game has no working title or release date, and it’s unclear when exactly we’ll see Kojima’s Xbox Game Studios game.
