This past June was the one-year marker for when Twitch banned Dr Disrespect, and many fans of the Doc and the streaming world at large have wanted to know why. Ever since it happened, no one seemed to know why, including Dr Disrespect himself. What did happen, however, was a ton of conspiracy theories about Dr Disrespect and Twitch filling the void, all of which were damaging to the Doc’s reputation.
Indeed, without any reason for the Twitch ban given, many internet users jumped to worst-case scenarios. It has long since proven to not be a worst-case scenario type of situation, but many want to know. Now, it seems the Doc is open about having known for a couple of months now.

When the Doc first said he didn’t know why he was banned on Twitch, some believed him and some didn’t. It was a side effect of all the reputation-damaging rumors circling the Doc. Now, in a recent YouTube stream, Doc admitted to knowing and continued that he plans to “sue the f*ck out of them." It begins around the 5:52:00-minute marker below.
Doc would not go on to explain why he was banned, even though he knows now and everyone is aware of that, and that’s likely due to his intended legal action against Twitch. He’d go on in the stream, in passing, about the “amount of damages” that occurred as a result of Twitch, and “you just don’t…nah.” While it may not be clear what exactly he was thinking in these moments, it’s worth many Twitch streamers are worried about the banhammer.
Streaming is a legitimate job, and streamers put a lot of work and dedication into it. To have all of that ripped out from under someone has to be disheartening, to say the least. There’s not a case as high-profile as the Doc, but the fact that the platform has never been consistent within its own rulings doesn’t help its case. If it happened to Dr Disrespect, it can happen to anyone, and for whoever puts their all into crafting a fine community—if with the occasional hiccup—having all of that ripped away simply isn’t right.
Dr Disrespect is starting a video game studio now, with a concept of a vertical battle royale game in mind. He has made the most of his time on YouTube and off Twitch, it would seem, but he's been open about the struggles it has created. There’s likely a lot in the background fans are even unaware of. Luckily, he is supported continuously by his community, the Champions Club. What comes next between Twitch and the Doc remains to be seen, but a lot of eyes in the streaming world are on these events.
