The launch of Dragon Age: Inquisition feels like a lifetime ago. The gap in between the third and fourth game is already the longest in the franchise's history, and yet according to an alleged insider source, fans may have to wait even longer for Dragon Age 4.
Venture Beat's Jeff Grubb reports that Dragon Age 4 is "on track" for a 2023 launch, and that EA doesn't have any plans to announce an official release date anytime soon. This comes on the same day as EA Play 2021, in which Dragon Age was a notable absence.

The lack of BioWare content at the latest EA Play had already been confirmed. This wasn't too surprising for the sci-fi series, since we just got Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and Mass Effect 5 is nothing but a teaser trailer right now. However, this was much more surprising for the fantasy counterpart, since its last outing was in 2014.
Grubb's report could shed some light on why we didn't get anything from Dragon Age 4. The article reads: "Sources familiar with the fantasy role-playing adventure confirm the game is on track for release in 2023." As we previously reported, the reason so many games were cut from EA Play was to focus on titles that are "coming out soon". This adds weight to the source's claims, since Dragon Age would likely have been part of the showcase if it was launching next year.
Despite being a no-show at EA Play, BioWare has been drip-feeding info on Dragon Age 4 for some time. This has predominantly been through concept art, which has revealed the return of factions such as the Grey Wardens and the Antivan Crows.
The last good look we got at the game earlier this year featured lots of hints on what we can expect. This includes the return of two-time companion, Varric, as well as Solas taking his rightful spot as a villain. There's currently no telling when we'll get our next trailer, especially if the release date really is so far away.
