El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron Finally Hits Steam On September 1

After months and months of teasing, crim Co. LTD's PC port El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will finally ascend onto Steam on September 1, 2021. A new trailer uploaded to YouTube today confirms that the game will retail for $39.99 with a two week launch discount of roughly 10% (bringing the price to $32.39). The game's artbook and soundtrack will be available as separate DLC or can be grabbed together with the game in a deluxe pack, which retails for $78.97.

Absurd pricing for special edition aside, El Shaddai was one of the most unique action games released during the Xbox 360/PS3 era. Inspired by the ancient book of Enoch from the Hebrew scripture, it mixed 2D and 3D gameplay segments together with a completely HUD-less UI that kept players engaged in its game world without throwing a ton of visual noise on the screen. It certainly was a trip, but has sadly been left to die on outdated hardware.

It's hard to say if this re-release will strike a chord with many, but El Shaddai is certainly worth the time to try out. You may wish to wait for a steeper sale if you're on the fence, but fans will likely eat this up as it will free the title from the constraints of seventh console generation hardware. I'm ecstatic about that as I missed out on a chance to own a copy years ago.

If you're worried that your PC won't be able to run the game, the system requirements on Steam are fairly low. More than likely, a toaster could run the game at this point.
