ELEX II releases in March 2022

ELEX II will be available on March 1st 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, Piranha Bytes has confirmed. The sequel to ELEX was revealed earlier this year and will see players return to the world of Magalan. This time around the factions of the world in ELEX II are on the brink of war but that is not the only danger, with dangerous beasts causing issues as well. You can check out the story trailer for the game if you have not already seen it.

The Collector’s Edition for the game was also revealed with containing a 9,2-inch Alb Figurine, the original soundtrack, the official artbook, a 2-inch “Cleric Amulett” key chain, a Steelbook, and a concept album by Björn Pankratz, “Cassandra”. The game will be in the Collector’s Edition too. It will cost $149.99 / €149.99 / £139.99.#

ELEX II will have a huge open world that you can explore with a jetpack, just like in the first game. It’s several years after Jax defeated the Hybrid, but now a new threat is coming from the sky. That’s right, the Skyanides are coming, and they’re going to ruin the precarious balance of the world, and it’s up to you to try and unite people to fight them off. Would that it were so simple to get people to put aside their differences and work in their own best interests. Piranha Bytes promise a world that bends to your actions with NPCs that will remember what you’ve done and react to it, that will join and leave your group, and are able to be killed (which will impact the story). Just as important, they say that the game has a “massively improved control system”.

In our ELEX review, Steve wrote: “ELEX is the very opposite of the accessible games that have revolutionised the open world RPG in recent years. I enjoyed it as a modern looking take on the Gothic series, but newcomers will have to be prepared to fight against the systems through the beginning of the game. This has resulted in the game quickly gaining a cult following who celebrate its obscurity and lack of accessibility. I don’t agree with this take and would argue that the best aspects of the game would only be improved by a more polished and refined presentation.”
